Of course we have to say something about Halloween! :) Each year it gets to be more fun for us. Last year Emily caught on about 25 minutes into Trick or Treating, and Jacob had to be carried everywhere 'cause he still wasn't walking. This year they both were saying, "Trick or Treat!" (Jacob kept his voice low, but he said it), Jacob was walking and Emily was running from house to house. We went Trick or Treating with our friends the Smiths (also our pumpkin patch friends!) and in no time Jake and Emily were way ahead with the Dads while us Moms stayed behind with Chloe and Jacob. :) Having Emily and Jacob separated kind of ruined the whole "cookie and milk" theme we had aimed for, but that was just fine. They had a great time, which is all we wanted.
Emily had been so excited to wear her cookie costume and once at the Trunk or Treat just wasn't enough, so she was more than ready to put it on again and for me to draw "chocolate chips" on her cheeks. Jacob wasn't in love with the carton of milk he had to wear (he totally wouldn't put up with the top of the carton going over his head), but once he did it for Trunk or Treat and realized he got candy wearing it, he was more than willing to wear his costume again too. Jacob's costume got funny remarks. One kid called him the "milk boy," another said, "he's a box!" and another said, "Got milk?" But I think our favorite remark came from the Trunk or Treat, when he fell over in the crowd of kids and someone said, "No use crying over spilt milk!" We just laughed so hard when we heard that!
Anyway, we had a great time and the kids got a ton of candy, so Billy is in a happy place! (Perfect for a guy with tooth problems!) :)
