Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

It's been a very fun week. Monday was Jacob Day, so Jacob and I went out to do something together. Tuesday we all went as a family to see a movie and Wednesday we took the kids to the rodeo. Talk about adventures! The kids had a great time. We didn't park right at the rodeo, but parked at a light rail station near the medical center (which wasn't far from the rodeo) and then took the train to the rodeo. Just riding the train was so much fun for the kids. (I think sometime we should just get on the train and ride it to the end of the line and back. They'd get such a kick out of it!)

Our first stop at the rodeo was the carnival. It was getting pretty busy and we wanted to get the kids on some rides before it got even more busy. We had some ticket books we had pre-ordered to save money, but unfortunately we didn't know how many tickets we'd need for each ride. Some rides "cost" 8 tickets per kid! (Definitely not in Logandale anymore!) So, our tickets didn't last as long as we had hoped, but now we know that next year the bracelets for a day are a much better deal overall. Anyway, the kids had a great time on the rides they did go on and are already talking about riding them again next year!

Jacob didn't smile once while on the pirate ship ride, but once he got off he said he liked it!

We hit an animal show after the rides and the kids got to pet all sorts of animals from kangaroos to lizards. Emily even volunteered to be a "brave helper" up front, and she did a great job. They ended up spraying water in her face and she was such a good sport about it.

Don't you just love those kids who don't stay in their seats (and their parents don't make them even though they're supposed to), so you can't take a decent picture when you want to!? :)

After that we went and checked out the cows, pigs, rabbits, goats, etc... The kids liked it at first, but after a while they started getting a little bored, and I couldn't blame them. Once you've seen 25 cows, it's not quite as much fun to see another one.

While checking out the animals the kids asked to ride the escalators! They went up and down with daddy twice! Poor student's kids! We promise we'll get more ride tickets next year!

We got some dinner and walked around a little more before heading home. Riding the train back to the car was the best way to end the day. :) The kids were tired and happy. (And my feet were killing me!)
