July in Michigan

When you live in one place for just a year, you get one shot at enjoying each month there, and that's it. So, here's how our one and only July in Michigan went:


The Fourth of July:

 

Got Megan's hair in pigtails. Then she pulled them out soon after.

(Not sure whose idea this was, but Aunt Sarah was the best commentator!)

 Megan was the snitch. :)

Em made mini cupcakes and decorated them for our barbeque. She let Megan help with the sprinkles.

Aunt Sarah was so fun and helpful! We miss her.

We are enjoying the summer weather here. Lots of picnics.

We saved another turtle from the middle of the road.

 

We celebrated Sugar Cookie Day!

We've been doing workbooks and reading everyday. It keeps us happy.

 

We found a park.

 

A rare story with Daddy. (He's working late pretty often right now.)

 

We went to explore Kensington Metropark one Saturday.

 

There's a Dairy Queen right outside of the park?!

Awesome.

 

Hostess is back!

 

This boy is taking off in his reading and gaining so much confidence because of it. It's fun to watch him. He's super excited for Kindergarten.

 

The kids are suddenly interested in chess. I need to learn how to play.

The kids took golf lessons for 4 weeks and loved it!

Blueberries!! They are cheap right now and we are loving it. We have made blueberry muffins, blueberry shakes, blueberry bread, blueberry sauce, and blueberry cream pie!

 

This pie had a homemade vanilla wafer crust, homemade custard/cream for the filling and yummy blueberry topping. It's like Michigan on your plate!

 

One month down, 11 to go!
